Petrie’s Family Games

This local store is much more than just a retailer. They are a community center. The store is one of the few of its kind to offer everything from children’s to more advanced and specialized games. And besides their stock, they have game tables available, free of charge, for use by anyone. Finally, Petrie offers regular gaming events. Here’s a look at some of the upcoming functions:

RPG Showcase

Mad Matt, the store’s game master, will take attendees through various role-playing games. The event takes place each Tuesday, from 6 to 9 pm, and a new game is introduced every month. It is free of charge and attendees only need to bring some dice and a little bit of excitement. For September and October, the events will be held on:

This library is not your typical public library. It is technologically advanced and aims to fully engage the community and the Pikes Peak Library District. Here is a look at the library’s upcoming events for September and October:

7 Key Topics to Understand 7 years before retirement

This workshop is meant to help those who are nearing retirement. The goal is to provide them with key information that they need in order to better prepare themselves for the transition. The event is free of charge and will take place from 6 to 7 pm on Wednesday, September 12.

PASTEL JOURNEYS: Color Speaking to the Soul

This exhibition features pastel paintings that were created by Pikes Peak Pastel Society members. The event is free and all original pieces will be for sale. The exhibition will take place from the opening reception, on Thursday, September 13, from 4 to 6 pm, through October 28. The pieces will be available for public viewing during library hours—Sunday through Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm.

Polka Dots And Curry

From her cozy, yet fully-equipped home, Monika Celly offers cooking classes. She specializes in Indian cuisine. The workshops she holds are 90 minutes, plus a30-minutee tasting experience. The price of the class is $50, includes recipe cards, and attendees can pick from any of the following class options:

  • Ayurvedic cooking
  • Chicken and fish recipes
  • Gluten free
  • Meatless Mondays
  • Vegan

Farmer’s Market On The Promenade

The Promenade Shops at Briargate offers the community a complete shopping experience, from clothing to food to tech. On Summer Saturdays, it extends this experience with a farmer’s market. While summer is winding up, the farmer’s market will continue through the end of September, meaning there are a few more Saturdays left to enjoy. The market runs from 9 am to 1 pm, allowing local vendors to share their organic food, crafts, and art with the community. Additionally, retailers from around the community provide promotions and special offers to event visitors. The market is free of charge and is held at:

Back East Bar & Grill

This restaurant in Briargate is a casual establishment that offers patrons a variety of cuisines. They are family-owned and operated, with a daily happy hour and weekly live music. This music is the big draw as it offers a regular event for locals and visitors to enjoy. The following acts will be live at Back East over the next few weeks:

Chinook Trail Elementary Gym

This elementary school in the northern part of Colorado Springs has become a community gem. It offers a wide variety of activities for children of all ages. In the coming weeks there will be a spotlight on fencing:

Beginning Fenching for Children (ages 8 to 14)

Mondays September 10, 17, 24 (5 to 6 pm)

For $105 for 4 classes and the use of equipment, children can learn the basics of fencing in small groups. If interested, participants can sign up for more advanced classes.

The Summit

This bowling alley chain offers much more than just bowling. They have laser tag, arcade games, billiards, and plenty of snacks. The big draw for The Summit recently is their ‘Kids Bowl Free’ promotion. Every Monday through Friday children who are under the age of 12 can bowl for free from 11 am to 7 pm. This deal lasts through Wednesday, October 31.

This restaurant chain is well-known across the country for its quick, yet delicious menu. In Briargate, the establishment goes above and beyond. Management regularly hosts community events to help newcomers feel welcome and locals have a little fun. Their most established event is held the first Tuesday of every month at 6 pm. It is a Hand N Foot card game. Attendees can grab a bite and play cards until the restaurant closes at 9 pm. The next card game nights will be held:
